My Christmas in Germany/Mein Weihnachten in Deutschland/Noël en Allemand/

Happy Holidays you lovely blossoms!

I just came back from Germany this morning, and upon looking at my {attempt at} footage for the vlog, I realized it needed to be redone because I was extremely tired and spaced to actually use it.. I was talking so slowly that the video couldn't be less than 11 minutes.

In this video, I talk about food!

Sports!

The annoying neighbor who recently acquired a hammer!

Music that nobody will admit is outdated!

Also as promised, here's another grumpy cat in another internet favorite.
God, I hope there are Tumblrs/
internet fanatics out there.

Anywhoozle, below is a link to the video. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel to get updates when a new video is released!

And how could I forget to take pictures while in the beautiful West Germany?

Here's some pictures of the Nordkirchen Castle!

Some pictures of Münster:

You can see the three cages above
the face of the clock on the cathedral!

It's been brought to my attention that there's some interesting information on those cages in the clock tower of the cathedral. If you'd like to learn more, here's a link (the important part is under, "Stuff Making an Even More Smashing Film Than the Spanish Inquisition" (English friends, can you confirm that the word, "smashing" is even still used??)

My comic book store virginity was officially
taken in Münster. There was lots of staring.

Münster is nicknamed, "The Bicycle City" for a
good reason.

Back in the day, Nordkirchen used to be a logging
town.

I was given lots of food before I had to depart
back to Lyon.

This pastry is called the Berliner. It's basically
a donut filled with awesome (home made jam).

Well that's all for me; now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to sleep for the rest of  the weekend.

À bientôt!
xoxo

  1. Thanks, another dandy travelogue. Was it warm on Christmas up there? I ran a story on the Shortwave Report that Southern Germany had the warmest Christmas in history- 68 F. And here's what I found about those prisoner cage by the church steeple-
"In 1534, the Anabaptists led by John of Leiden, took power in the Münster Rebellion and founded a democratic proto-socialistic state. They claimed all property, burned all books except the Bible, and called it the "New Jerusalem". John of Leiden believed he would lead the elect from Münster to capture the entire world and purify it of evil with the sword in preparation for the Second Coming of Christ and the beginning of the Millennium. They went so far as to require all citizens to be naked as preparation for the Second Coming. However, the town was recaptured in 1535; the Anabaptists were tortured to death, their corpses were exhibited in cages, which can still be seen hanging on the Tower of St. Lambert's steeple."
Be well, hopefully the guy next door will finish his construction!

  3. It was strangely warm while I was visiting--during the day it never really dropped below 50. Although it was nice to have warm (given the time of the year) Christmas, I was kind of hoping for a white-out since I was in Germany for the holidays.

On the information you found on John of Leiden, that's very interesting; I should have thought to dig up some information on the prisoner cages! I have put in a link on the blog with information for everyone to see concerning the creation of these cages.

As for the construction, it lasted the entire day but I think he took Sunday as a day of rest!
